The Hickory Run State Park Visitor Center is a 13,000 SF lodge style structure designed to accommodate the park’s administrative offices, exhibition space, multi-purpose room for school and camper activities, modern public restrooms, and space for educational programing. Sustainable features include raingardens, construction using reclaimed lumber, geothermal heating and cooling, and the use of native plant materials. Site improvements included conventional parking, trailer/RV parking, and electric vehicle charging stations, improvements to the ‘Shades of Death’ trail and the park amphitheater, and new walkways and sidewalks. The building structure features custom designed timber trusses and large covered exterior spaces for an extension of the public space.
