Structural Engineering Services

As part of the firm’s Structural Engineering Design Services On-Call Contract with the School District of Philadelphia, Hunt Engineering Company provided a structural condition assessment of the four-story Alexander McClure School for the purpose of identifying areas of structural distress to the building’s façade which includes brick masonry and limestone elements. A structural assessment report of the findings was prepared to assist the School District staff in prioritizing facade repairs to be included in the subsequent design and construction project. Hunt Engineering Company’s structural engineers prepared contract documents for the necessary façade restoration which included extensive brick masonry and limestone masonry repairs and reconstruction as well as repairs to and replacement of existing steel lintels. Care was taken while documenting the façade repairs to rebuild all masonry and stone elements in kind, matching the patterns, colors and sizes of existing elements to maintain the original artistic integrity of the building.
